It’s a Dog’s Life

For Millennials, dogs have priority over children and marriage when buying their first home. Yes, you read correctly 🙂

In a SunTrust Mortgage survey, more Millennials prioritized dogs higher than marriage or children as a factor in their home-buying decision. It’s no secret that Millennials love dogs and now their four-legged friends are starting to influence. One of the difficulties my clients find with renting or purchasing a condo are the restrictions placed by the landlords or HOAs. It’s best to check the fine print, because there could be restrictions on the size of your pet, the breed and the number of pets allowed. I had one Condo buyer who had a Great Dane puppy!! Even at 8 weeks old it exceeded the maximum size requirements permitted under that condo’s HOA 🙁

Buying a home for “Fido” is smart planning. Just like people, dogs grow and get older, and their needs change. It’s all fine when we’re young and living with these dogs in apartments and condos, but now that “Rambo” is 12, it’s harder for him to climb the stairs or make it to the fire hydrant on time 😮

It’s much easier to be in a home where he can have a doggie door.

If your needs are changing, please give me a call. I’d love to go shopping with Lucky, Daisy, Max, Bella, Duke….
